Why an art show?
Along with our desire to showcase and support local artists, the church has a strong commitment to supporting social justice causes. The show gave us a way to further support our long-time ally, Youth Outlook. All monies raised from our raffle and our soup lunch go to support this important organization.
The show includes a champagne reception from 5-9 p.m. Friday evening with the show continuing from 10-5 on Saturday. Enjoy the skills of fun and eclectic local and regional artists with an eye toward sustainable and one of a kind work. 25 hand-picked artists, live music, a raffle to support Youth Outlook, drop-off children's art area and a soup lunch on Saturday are part of the weekend. The Prairie View Fine Arts Invitational at DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church is organized and run by over 70 volunteers. The show Chair, Karen Seymour-Ells, has been an exhibiting artist for over 20 years and designed our show to celebrate and support local, sustainable small businesses. Sarah Lensink is a fine artist and instructor who lends her organizational skills to aesthetics and hospitality for the show. Prairie View is not a fund raiser for the church, it is a show of our support for the arts and for artists.
